how to apply

Eligibility Criteria

The project must involve an approach to biotherapy or health-related bioproduction linked to at least one of the three thematic areas of DIM BioConvS:

  1. Life engineering and bioproduction

  2. Development of therapeutic proof-of-concepts

  3. Novel, high-throughput, and standardizable analytical methods

The research team benefiting from the regional grant must be located in Île-de-France (not necessarily part of the founding teams of the DIM). Starting January 2024, all laboratories are required to submit the DIM BioConvS membership application form, available at this link:

>>Join the DIM BioConvS<<

The membership application must be submitted before the call deadline. The DIM BioConvS team will inform you of the result of your membership request once it has been processed.

The acquisition must take place within 18 months following the funding decision (no later than December 31, 2027).

The submitted project cannot be funded by another grant from the Île-de-France Region. For any specific questions, please contact DIM BioConvS.

Selection Process and Criteria

The selection process will include several steps:

  1. Pre-selection by the Scientific Council based on alignment with the thematic areas and any previous DIM funding received,

  2. Evaluation of pre-selected projects by two external experts,

  3. Selection jury composed of members of the Scientific Council.

Evaluation criteria include:

  • The scientific quality of the project,

  • The strategic nature of the equipment, its shared use or integration into a platform,

  • The impact of acquiring this equipment (opening to industry, project linked to a clinical study or innovation, impact on the technology readiness level),

  • The adequacy of the requested equipment with the submitted project.

Collaborative or platform-based projects will be prioritized. Projects involving a socio-economic partner are encouraged. Priority will also be given to institutions that have not received DIM BioConvS funding for equipment.

List of Required Documents for Each Application

  • Completed application form including administrative, financial, scientific, and technical information (template available in the left-hand menu),

  • Equipment quotation,

  • Co-funding letter signed by the legal representative of the purchasing institution. If applicable, a letter from each co-funding institution must be provided.

Note: The co-funding letter must be signed by the legal representative of the purchasing institution. The laboratory director’s signature will not be accepted.

Any incomplete application will not be evaluated.

Funding Characteristics

Depending on available resources, scientific feasibility, and with the agreement of the project leader, DIM BioConvS reserves the right to fund only part of the submitted project.

Please note that each grant recipient commits to providing a cash advance.

Each equipment funding from DIM requires a minimum co-funding rate of 34%. This means that for the total equipment cost (which may include multiple items within the same platform), at least 34% of the total price (excluding tax) must come from another source (institution or another grant not provided by the Île-de-France Region). Supplier discounts cannot be considered co-funding. See the FAQ for more details.

Eligible Costs

Only equipment with a total cost above €7,500 (excluding tax) is eligible. Shipping, installation, training, and maintenance costs may be eligible if they are clearly included in the initial quotation and covered directly by the supplier. Computers and software are also eligible if essential to the functioning of the equipment.

Note: No management fees may be deducted from the amount allocated for equipment acquisition by managing institutions and/or beneficiaries and/or co-funders of this grant.

All expenses are accounted for excluding tax.

Commitments

Publications

The recipient commits to citing the Île-de-France Region and DIM BioConvergence for Health in any publication where experiments were carried out using the purchased equipment, by including the following acknowledgment:

"This work has been supported by Region Île-de-France in the framework of DIM BioConvS"

The Île-de-France Region encourages members to deposit their publications on open access platforms (HAL, etc.).

Communication Requirements

The Region’s logo must appear on all information, communication, and/or event materials related to the supported project, whether printed, digital, or audiovisual.

Visibility of regional support will also be ensured by stickers with the Region’s logo only. These stickers will be provided by the Region.
